Special Earth Day 2023 Event – Advanced Beekeeping

Earth Day 2023 – April 22, 11 am – 1:00 pm
This event is for beekeepers and aspiring beekeepers designed to get you comfortable working your bees. You will have the opportunity to inspect the hives with our beekeeper’s supervision and guidance.

Beekeeping is at the whim of Mother Nature so we can only plan, while leaving room for what She allows.  Our goal today is to split 1 or 2 of the existing hives into an additional 3-4 hives. We will do this by opening the current strong hives and checking for “queen cells” and if possible, transferring those cells, along with a few frames of brood, pollen and honey to create new nucleus colonies. We will share more insight and specifics with you during the class.

The class is limited to 10 participants and RSVP is required. We are offering this free of charge in honor of Earth Day 2023. This is an intermediate – advanced lesson and some experience in beekeeping is suggested, however we welcome all levels including beginner. Protective gear will be provided, you only need bring your openness to learn.
