Hive Tour

Join US

A fun, unique and educational experience into the heart of a beehive!

kids-host-a-hive-program

On this tour, you’ll observe our professional beekeeper as they open a hive and show you what we look for when caring for our hives. See how bees live – collecting and storing pollen and nectar, raising their young, and if we’re very lucky, we may even see the queen bee!

Your tour will begin with an interactive and brief lecture on the different roles of the bees in the colony, how they communicate and how they create honey and beeswax. Then you’ll get up close and personal with more than 100,000 bees.

We’ll conclude the class by tasting honey harvested from our own hives throughout the Greater Bay Area and discussing how honey gets its unique flavors

Whether you’re a gardener, nature lover, foodie, future beekeeper or anyone who is curious to experience the wonderful world of bees, you’ll be fascinated by the way these helpful creatures work together.

Find out why they aren’t as scary as we’re led to believe and what you can do to give them a hand.

If you’re interested in learning a bit more about the bees,  you may want to join us for Bee Biology and Behavior 101 – an interactive lecture that that happens one hour prior to our tours. Learn More Here.

Protective Suits are recommended but not required. We will provide them for all guests upon requests. We have a large amount of adult suits and 3 children’s size.  Please reserve the suit in advance on checkout or email us with the date of the hive tour and number of suits requested.  Please also check out or FAQ page.
